Finger Lakes Community Health + Mosaic Health:

How joining forces would serve people better

_

Finger Lakes Community Health (FLCH) has announced its intention to explore the potential for Mosaic Health to become part of its organization. Joining forces would enable both organizations to share resources and expand our collective reach. The move would help us to serve patients better and fulfill our already similar missions because one larger organization would have a more influential voice in advocating for community health.

Fast facts

  • Good reason: The new, combined organization would be able to serve our communities better through greater efficiencies, shared resources, and recruitment power in hiring healthcare professionals as we grow.
  • Good match: Both organizations serve patients of all incomes, ethnicities, and walks of life. Each is a Community Health Center (CHC)—part of a healthcare program designed to provide accessible, continuous, coordinated, and comprehensive patient-centered care, from family medicine to dental services to behavioral health. CHCs serve more than 32.5 million people across the U.S. In fact, 1 in 8 New York State residents is a patient at their local CHC.
  • Greater need: Once merged, the organization would serve nearly 43,000 patients across Upstate New York.
  • No closures or staff reductions: The two organizations have very little overlap in their service areas and patient populations. Both organizations are now hiring, and the combined organization would be able to fill in gaps where each currently faces challenges.
  • Timing: Pending due diligence and regulatory approval, Mosaic Health would become part of FLCH by the end of 2025.
