Mobile Medical and Dental Programs

The Mobile Medical Program has been a successful part of the FLCH strategy to make sure that farmworker patients have access to medical care, as most farmworkers do not have ready transportation available to get to a health center to seek care, particularly in rural areas. Traveling medical teams, consisting of a Medical Provider and a bilingual Community Health Worker, visit the housing sites of agricultural workers to provide initial assessments, screening, triaging, routine care, and referrals and/or transport into the nearest FLCH center.

The Mobile Dental Program  provides preventive and routine dental care to the children of farmworkers at several locations. FLCH dental teams, img5utilizing mobile dental equipment, visit the children enrolled in designated Migrant Head Start Centers and Migrant Education Opportunity Program summer school sites. With a focus on the children and their needs, the dentist and hygienist provide a full range of dental services in a stress-free atmosphere. Further enhancing the dental program is a teledentistry component coordinated with the Eastman School of Dentistry for children who may require dental specialty services.
